This past long-weekend I had the opportunity to clean the house and include my kids in some of it. We were cleaning the windows and my son (almost 3) said, "daddy's gonna come home and say 'it's so clean!' He'll be so happy".I hadn't said anything to indicate that we were doing this to make daddy proud and now recalled that my son always thinks that way. Whether he draws a picture or builds a tower out of blocks it's always "for you", never just for fun or for his own benefit. Jesus was right when he said we needed to have a faith like these little ones.
"Work hard and cheerfully at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and the Master you are serving is Christ." (Col 3:23-24 NLT). I need to learn a lesson from my son and get my focus back on doing everything to make my heavenly daddy proud.
