I have thought about Christ's return many times, picking opportune times when I'm in the middle of a great worship service and glad he didn't come when I was involved in something "sinful". I'm sure you would have similar answers if asked, "what would you not want to be doing when Jesus returns?"
I was reading Luke 21 this week and came upon a passage when Jesus was talking to his disciples about being ready for his return. I was surprised at his suggestions. "Watch out! Don't let me find you living in careless ease and drunkenness, and filled with the worries of this life." (Luke 21:34) He doesn't mention the "big" sins I would have thought he would say, but on things I struggle with every day! Okay, maybe not the drunkenness part being pregnant and all but 'careless ease'? and 'filled with the worries of this life'? That means I still have work to do, I can't just coast through life or get too caught up in it but have to keep focused on eternally significant things and on God's kingdom.
This was a good lesson to keep me humble, focused and motivated.
